Weekend Trip: Prague

This was another quick trip; I flew out of Copenhagen in the evening on Friday, March 13th, spent Saturday and Sunday morning in Prague, and then flew back to Denmark in the afternoon. It wasn't a very long trip, but I think it was the perfect amount of time to see the main sights in Prague. I stayed in a hotel near Old Town, so I just walked everywhere.

Travel Tip: The Czech Republic uses the koruna, not the euro! (I just used my card though, since I was only there fore a few days)

I really loved Prague! It was so much fun just wandering around the Old Town area, there's a lot to take in! I think I enjoyed Prague a little more than Hamburg, both were still great though. The most famous spots in Prague are probably Charles Bridge, the castle, and the Astronomical Clock. For the castle, there are different types of tickets you can get that include admission to the different spots around the area. I had the ticket for the main circuit; I got to see the St. Vitus Cathedral (my personal favorite from the weekend), Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica, and Golden Lane. You can see Daliborka (the dungeon) without a ticket; it's located near Golden Lane. Heads up, there's a lot of stairs to get up to the castle; but it's worth it, I promise!

Here's the list of everything I saw, and a collage of pictures from the weekend:

  • Obecní dům - concert hall

  • Old Town Square

  • National Museum

  • Václavské náměstí - Wenceslas Square

  • Vyšehrad - historic fort (and basilica)

  • Tančící dům - dancing house

  • Strahov monastery

  • Prague Castle (cathedral, historic palace, basilica, Golden Lane)

  • St. Charles Bridge

  • Astronomical Clock (in Old Town Square)

  • Palladium shopping center

I know this was a pretty short post, but I'll be posting again soon about exams at CBS (after I get my exam scores). Thanks for reading!
